Langkawi Academic Trip on 23th, 24th, and 25th November

Langkawi is a place where I had dreamed of since my childhood as it is one of the famous tourist spot in Malaysia. Long time I desired to have a view on the Eagle Landmark that is always shown by the media mass. Hence I was excited when we were told that we had an academic trip to the place. Yeah first time I travelled Langkawi with my schoolmates for the first time also. Full of memories!

A big shell i picked on the beach. Initially I took it back, but I decided to return to the majestic ocean.

A snapshot on Fufu haha

It  is a good experience to have a trip with almost 20 schoolmates and lecturers. After this trip, I found that I almost knew all my schoolmates from different major and the bonds with each other were strengthened. Such academic trip will go on in each semester but this is the only chance that the design studio and the non-design studio went on trip together. I appreciate the moments we were happy, upset, being scolded, working together. I was grateful to be one of the HBP-ians.

Back to Project 6

Honestly Project 6 the only project which I really Enjoy to join and work together with my group members.
Before this, there had no such situation that all Malay girls always shouted out my nickname 'YANGYANG' to ask me eating bread. I felt heart-warmed as I easily felt hungry and they prepared food for me.

This is the piano model that Pei Xiu and I  worked together (actually Pei Xiu made the whole product and what I did was only to glue the parts). Though it was the last night to submit the amphitheatre, she contributed one more night just to complete the amphitheatre perfectly. She is such a serious girl.

Our group always achieved full attendance.

Lee Kang is one of the most hardworking member in the group. I remembered once he was frustrated when he rushed for the dimension of all wood timbers. He was so responsible.

There is no one girl I admired before. She is the exception.  The days we constructed the amphitheatre she was always the earlier to come and the latest to go back. Even she was sleepy she still continued the part she was working on. I am not the one like to burn the midnight oil, but I do not like to leave a girl working alone at night and have a nice sleep in my room. She is the one really touched my feeling that I am willing to stay aside and back up her from time to time.

Something I Feel About RUS104 Studio

First my feelings are mixed when the time has came to the end of this semester. Since September I was busy with the projects and assignment, but I found that it was too fast to complete a semester. Honestly I am not good and interested at drawing, therefore at first I really hope that this semester can pass as fast as possible. After I joined HBP, I was introduced to 7 majors: Architectural, Interior Design, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Management and Building Technology. HBP taught me the relationship of these 7 major in a construction.

Besides that, HBP provided us the chances to meet and make friends with those from different major. I appreciated it as I got a lot of new friends. Although I really do not like drawing, HBP still forced me to draw a lot of things and I found that I can draw my potrait well. Technical drawings like perspective, axonometric and others which are unfamiliar to me before has became my knowledge now.

Next it is about the teamwork. We were divided into many and different groups to complete tasks. As everyone has his or her characteristics and behaviors, we have to be tolerance and well-cooperated with other group members. Meanwhile, we must identify the strong points of the group members so that he or she can brings out the potential in completing some progress. Basically, I think that the communication skill is the vital element to strengthen the power of a team.

Overall, I was not satisfied with my performance at the initial of this semester( I admit that I have no patience on drawing). Instead of that, I will concentrate fully on my final examination currently as a sign of appreciation to those lecturers who taught us painstakingly. Last but not least, I was grateful to those friends who worked with me before. Thank you for your tolerance on my bad temper (I will be frustrated when I am starving). It is great to be one of the HBP-ians!

Performance and Award Night 2013

The time has came to the end. Before this I never notice when is the end of the first semester. However, when  I was preparing for the performance, I realised that the first semester was too short. Next semester where the majors will be separated into design studion and non-design studio.

QS was given a kingdom theme named Majapahit.I heard this kingdom before during my history lesson in secondary school and I won't dream that I will do a performance for this theme.

After a long discussion, we had decided that all of us danced except for those committees. First the girls presents the traditional dance. After that, the guys join them to dance 'Rock Around The Clock'. Then, four of the girls continue the traditional dance for the ending of our performance. We spent two days and two nights to practice. Here, I would like to thank our mentor, Jerry who willingly taught us though he was busy on his stuff at the same time also.

QS-ians and Mr Jerry
Surprisingly, our simple costume won the best costume among 7 major. As the old sayings go, simple is perfect.

I was happy to perform with my QS gang as the dance was quite interesting. It will be our great memory.

RUS EXbition 2013

Finally and finally, we come to the second last project in the first semester. Project 7 provided each of the major subject the duration of a week to create and decorate respective booth to be placed excellent drawings and sculptures of each major. Due to insufficient space in the Drum, two majors combine and share same corner namely:

Quantity surveying + Construction Management
Interior Design + Urban andf Regional Planning
Building Technology + Building Surveying
Architectural presents as a lone ranger.

In our group, Jia Jiunn, Redha,Najiah and Aina are chosen as the committees. Therefore, the remaining of the QS-ians are responsible for the booth.
I am proud of my potrait.

QS gang

In the process, there were argument, dissatisfaction, anger and happiness as well. However, what everyone wants is to produce a good booth. Hopefully the bond in QS-ians becomes stronger in the future.
